Adopt with Us

Your application must be filled out in its entirety – we are unable to process incomplete applications. If applicable, along with your completed adoption application you must also supply a copy of your lease agreement including the pet policy that states that you are allowed to have pets in your home, as well as proof of current rabies vaccination for all household animals including cats and dogs. 

Please note that submission of an application is not a guarantee of adoption. Please send additional forms to reception@columbiaanimalshelter.com or return to the shelter.

We can only approve adopters that are 21 years or older.

Once the shelter has received your application with all necessary paperwork and has approved your application, a shelter staff member will reach out to you.

Due to the overwhelming interest in our cats/kittens/dogs we cannot guarantee that your first choice for adoption will be available, and we recommend having a list of cats/dogs in which you are interested in. We cannot reserve or hold any animals for anyone, and we do not adopt on a first come basis – we adopt for best fit for each animal. All of our available animals can be found on Adoptapet.com along with descriptions of their personalities.  You are also welcome to visit our shelter to meet our available animals.

When you do find a furry friend you bond with, we will process your adoption at that time, and you will be able to take home your new family member.
